Honeybear of the Yukon
This Outstanding Chesapeake Bay Retriever's photo gallery
shows exactly why this dog is in the International Hunting Dog Hall of Fame.
Rock Honeybear of the Yukon, a Chesapeake Bay male retriever male earned both
AKC field trial titles. He also competed in the 1980 National Amateur Retriever
Championship Stake in Waterville, Maine. Owner James L. Mauney of Lewiston,
Idaho, places 'Rock' in the top percent of hunting or trial dogs. His biggest
asset was his ability to find and retrieve cripples when hunting. This strong
Chessie hunted everything from Bobwhite quail in the southeastern United States
to bull moose in the Yukon. He has retrieved dove, quail, ducks, pheasant,
geese, sharptail grouse, and prairie chickens. He has assisted in finds on
grizzly bear and bull moose, making him a classic representative of the
all-around hunting companion.
