“IHDHoF
honors all hunting dogs, whether they point, flush, tree, catch, or retrieve:
nothing beats a good hunting dog. We provide an avenue for those with
outstanding hunting dogs to be able to immortalize their special companions, to
give them the honor they so richly deserve.” says founder Lanse Brown.
“Created in order to commemorate and perpetuate the name of truly great hunting
dogs, the IHDHoF is an organization that recognizes the special bond between dog
and hunter."
All dogs that hunt are eligible to participate. The International
Hunting Dog
Hall
of Fame defines hunting dogs as those canines who assist in the pleasure of
hunting. These dogs are in the general groups of Retrievers, Pointing Breeds,
Spaniels, Hounds (Big Game, Coon, Scent & Sight), Terriers, Dachshunds and
Beagles. However, we recognize that a great hunting dog, be it a bird dog, gun
dog, or squirrel dog, can come from any breed and the IHDHoF will not exclude
any exemplary hunting dog because of breed origin.
Any hunting
dog is eligible for inclusion into the International Hunting Dog Hall of Fame.
Eligible applicants do not have to have competed in tests and/or trials. They
must only have been hunted and be great hunters. Acceptance into the Hall of
Fame will be marked by placement of the engraved brick on the Walk of Fame,
while space is available.
